Widowed for 6 years and ready for a permanent match. I am putting myself out on the rack of thrift store/second hand store online dating. The world of the out-grown, out of style, rejected and tossed out, somehow detached and missing its partner/pair. However, part of the fun and discovery of the thrift store/second hand shop is that there are incredible gems to be found. If you know your taste. If you recognize true value and quality and the ability of those items to last a lifetime (with proper care and maintenance.)
I am retired, degreed, comfortable financially. I am an avid reader, lover of many different types of music. I enjoy cultural events, concerts, theater, dance performance. I am a gem with many different facets, changing colors. Infused with light. Emitting warmth and depth. For the proper eyes to see.
I also love the outdoors and live on a barrier island where I have walking distance to the beach and a quick drive to more warm and calm water in the sound to the west. I love to fish for the pure sensory experience of the water, the sky, the birds. I love to fish for the challenge of testing my skills and knowledge and patience and for the pure joy of the moment when all intersect and a fish is on the line.
I am a Cancer by zodiac. I am very loyal, caring, protective. I value home but have traveled in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and lived outside the US for 2 years. I understand what it is like to be immediately recognized as different. As "not from here". At the time and place in my life when and where I learned this, it was not a threat in any way. Just enlightenment in a way. I understand that the country and the world in which I live often conflate being different, or not from here, as a threat instead of a door or window to look through, or walk through, and learn more, see similarities and consistencies across human experience, time and place. Reading can take you there too.
This brief introduction is but the tip of an iceberg I hope you would find most interesting and intriguing. Life and people are complex, complicated, sometimes complicating. I understand that. I also understand that the best partner is your best friend. Laughter is the best medicine and can be shared across multiple spectrums of being a person. The best things in life are free. Beauty is where you find it and how you define it. Have fun. Know what you came for. Good luck in your search through the stacks of hay (or racks of thrift store donations) and may the golden needle (which is also looking for the proper finger to stick) pierce your heart. "You can't always get what you want. But if you try, sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need."
