I am retired, degreed, comfortable financially. I am an avid reader, lover of many different types of music. I enjoy cultural events, concerts, theater, dance performance. I am a gem with many different facets, changing colors. Infused with light. Emitting warmth and depth. For the proper eyes to see.
I also love the outdoors and live on a barrier island where I have walking distance to the beach and a quick drive to more warm and calm water in the sound to the west. I love to fish for the pure sensory experience of the water, the sky, the birds. I love to fish for the challenge of testing my skills and knowledge and patience and for the pure joy of the moment when all intersect and a fish is on the line.
I am a Cancer by zodiac. I am very loyal, caring, protective. I value home but have traveled in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and lived outside the US for 2 years. I understand what it is like to be immediately recognized as different. As "not from here". At the time and place in my life when and where I learned this, it was not a threat in any way. Just enlightenment in a way. I understand that the country and the world in which I live often conflate being different, or not from here, as a threat instead of a door or window to look through, or walk through, and learn more, see similarities and consistencies across human experience, time and place.
